The Jeannette Jayhawks will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Mapletown Maples at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
After a string of three wins, Jeannette's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 57-26 loss at the hands of McGuffey. While losing is never fun, Jeannette can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 417th, while McGuffey is ranked 147th).
Meanwhile, Mapletown had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Propel Montour by a score of 33-26 on Thursday. That 33-26 margin sets a new team best for Mapletown this season.
Jeannette's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Mapletown, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
