The Weaver Beavers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 22 points or more this season. They blew past Capital Prep 90-68. Weaver's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
It was another big night for Shaheim Wilson, who scored 33 points along with three steals. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Walters, who scored 14 points along with seven assists and four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Capital Prep lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Amare Cockfield. Despite the final result, he scored 33 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Cockfield scored a full 48.5% of Capital Prep's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Syre Gillespie was another key contributor, scoring 21 points.
Even though they lost, Capital Prep were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Weaver's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Capital Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weaver will take on Academy of Aerospace and Engineering at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
