Delavan hasn't had much luck against Brimfield recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Indians at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Delavan is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Peoria Heights on Friday as they made off with a 14-2 win. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Corie Green was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Green was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Delavan let Hudson Briggs and Grady Burrell run wild. Briggs went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Burrell got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and four runs. Burrell has become a key player for Delavan: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron McMullen, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Delavan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2025.
Meanwhile, Brimfield won against Cuba/Spoon River Valley on Saturday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Indians were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Stark County. Considering the Indians have won ten matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kaeden Schatsiek made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Schatsiek was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Noah Malone was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Brody Kenney was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Brimfield's win bumped their record up to 20-3. As for Delavan, their victory bumped their record up to 3-14.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Delavan has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Brimfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
