The Moon Area Tigers posted their closest victory since January 12th on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Montour 46-43. Given Moon Area's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Montour is ranked 247th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Moon Area's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaedin Griggs led the charge by scoring 19 points along with two steals. Griggs hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Maria Depner was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Moon Area's victory bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Montour, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 17 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.
Moon Area does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Montour, they will be playing at home against Mars at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Mars is facing Montour at the right time seeing as Montour is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
