Kennedy is 9-1 against Delano since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Kennedy Thunderbirds will be playing at home against the Delano Tigers at 5:15 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Kennedy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 47-23 loss at the hands of Taft. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Kennedy has suffered since December 29, 2023.
Despite the loss, Kennedy saw an underclassman step up: Imaree Curry dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten steals. Jocelyne Madue?a was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Kennedy struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Taft racked up 11 assists.
Meanwhile, Delano came up short against Taft on Thursday and fell 40-28. Delano has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kennedy's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 8-12. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.0 points per game. As for Delano, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
Kennedy took their victory against Delano in their previous meeting on January 4th by a conclusive 59-38. Does Kennedy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Delano turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
