Highland and Independence are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2021, but not for long. The Highland Scots will head out on the road to challenge the Independence Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Highland has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 27.
Highland suffered their biggest loss since November 13, 2023 on Wednesday. They were beaten by Ridgeview 67-11. While losing is never fun, Highland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1204th, while Ridgeview is ranked 465th).
Meanwhile, Independence lost to Bakersfield Christian at home by a decisive 58-40 margin on Wednesday. Independence has struggled against Bakersfield Christian recently, as their game on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Highland dropped their record down to 3-14 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.0 points per game. As for Independence, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
Highland was taken down by Independence 63-25 when the teams last played on January 10th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Independence's Kaylynn Bolden, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 18 rebounds.
