The Citrus Hill Hawks lost against the Liberty Bison back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The game between the pair wasn't particularly close, with Citrus Hill falling 52-34. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for them in their matchups with Liberty: they've now lost three in a row.
It was another big night for Alex Barajas, who scored 22 points along with nine assists and seven rebounds for Liberty. Those nine assists set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelli Harris-Wellman, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.
Citrus Hill has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Liberty, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-6.
Citrus Hill will finish 2023 at home by hosting Citrus Valley at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Liberty will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Perris at 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
