The Northeast Dubois Jeeps are taking a road trip to challenge the South Spencer Rebels at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Northeast Dubois is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Northeast Dubois is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Vincennes Rivet just ended the team's ten-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 7-3 to the Patriots.
Brycen Mroz put in work no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Mroz wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jake Kluesner, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
South Spencer not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9th (when they won 18-8). Everything went their way against Wood Memorial as they made off with an 8-2 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Rebels as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Traven Mongold spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, South Spencer let Logan Trone and Tate Schulte run wild. Trone went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Schulte got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Schulte is becoming a predictor of South Spencer's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-16 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Eli DeWeese, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
South Spencer's record now sits at 5-17. As for Northeast Dubois, their loss dropped their record down to 15-5.
South Spencer's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Northeast Dubois hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .359. It's a different story for South Spencer, though, as they've only averaged .220. Will they be able to contain Northeast Dubois' hitters?
Northeast Dubois might still be hurting after the 13-0 defeat they got from South Spencer in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Jeeps avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
