The Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles struggled with assists on Friday (the Monte Vista Mustangs had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Clayton Valley Charter took a serious blow against Monte Vista, falling 72-40. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Clayton Valley Charter has scored all season.
Several Ugly Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Adrianna Surney, who scored seven points. Gabriella Cruz was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds.
Leading Monte Vista to victory were Rachel Brans and Alyssa Rudd. Brans dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds, while Rudd scored 30 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The matchup was Rudd's 13th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Naliyah Sefidi, who scored 11 points.
Clayton Valley Charter has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-4 record this season. As for Monte Vista, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clayton Valley Charter will take on Acalanes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Monte Vista won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against American at 5:00 p.m. on January 6th. American will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 457th, while Monte Vista is ranked 224th).
