North Platte is 2-8 against Mid-Buchanan since September of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Panthers will face off against the Dragons at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (North Platte 3.6, Mid-Buchanan 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Monday, North Platte didn't have quite enough to beat South Harrison and fell 3-1. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly two runs.
North Platte saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Francis Kossen, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Mid-Buchanan came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Mules a 15-0 shutout. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.
Dru Pearson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in October of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Danika Black was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ella Christie, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Mid-Buchanan lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Mid-Buchanan's record is now 13-6. As for North Platte, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
North Platte came up short against Mid-Buchanan in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 4-1. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
