Oakmont took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Whitney Wildcats 6-5. The victory was familiar territory for the Vikings, who have now won six contests in a row dating back to last season.
CJ Smith looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Cooper Kunis was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Beau Ogles was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.
