The Smethport Hubbers will head out on the road to take on the Northern Potter Panthers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Smethport is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
On Thursday, Smethport earned a 44-36 win over Cameron County.
Smethport's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elizabeth Hungiville, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Hungiville is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Payton Neff was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Northern Potter came up short against Port Allegany on Thursday and fell 46-34. Northern Potter has not had much luck with Port Allegany recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Smethport's victory bumped their record up to 3-11. As for Northern Potter, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Smethport suffered a grim 43-21 defeat to Northern Potter when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Smethport avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
