While Northside didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-26), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against the Liberty County Panthers on Saturday as they made off with a 9-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Kadence Cooley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Brynli Burch was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ayanna Washington, who went 3-for-4 with three runs.
Northside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty County only posted a batting average of .263.
Northside's record is now 7-1. As for Liberty County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Looking ahead, Northside will face off against Howard at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Liberty County, they will square off against Bradwell Institute at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
