The Credo Gryphon and the Sonoma Academy Coyotes squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Credo Gryphon had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Coyotes 51-21. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Credo in their matchups with Sonoma Academy: they've now lost eight in a row.
Credo's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maya Leach, who scored eight points. Hope Madden was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Credo's loss dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Sonoma Academy, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Credo will face off against St. Bernard's at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Bernard'spresents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Credo in California (St. Bernard's is ranked 90th, while Credo is ranked 1039th). Sonoma Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Cloverdale at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Cloverdale is coming into the game with ten straight victories at home, so Sonoma Academy is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
