After a string of eight wins, the Burroughs Bears's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell to Alemany 48-43. If Burroughs hoped to take revenge for the 69-47 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Burroughs' loss came despite strong showings from Claire Hackney and Mariam Fahs. Hackney scored 21 points along with six rebounds, while Fahs scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Fahs hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Burroughs' defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-3. As for Alemany, their victory bumped their record up to 11-12.
Burroughs and Crescenta Valley will face off at 6:45 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Crescenta Valley will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. Alemany will take on Harvard-Westlake at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Harvard-Westlake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Thursday.
