The Calaveras Red Hawks were the 42-25 winner over the Amador Buffaloes when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Calaveras received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 42-26 to Amador. Calaveras has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Izzy Tapia and Ginger Scheidt certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Tapia scored six points along with seven rebounds, while Scheidt scored two points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Calaveras struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Calaveras' loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Amador, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calaveras will take on Sonora at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Sonora focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. As for Amador, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Bret Harte at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th.
