Rampart is 0-3 against Pueblo West since September of 2024 but things could change on Thursday. The Rams will head out on the road to challenge the Cyclones at 3:30 p.m. Rampart has given up an average of 11.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Vista Ridge hit Rampart with a eight-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rams lost 14-5 to the Wolves.
Addison Jensen was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and 13 unearned) runs off 14 hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple.
In other batting news, Victoria Kendall was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pueblo West). They were the clear victors by a 28-1 margin over Doherty on Tuesday. The Cyclones might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Like Rampart, Pueblo West also got a great game from a two-way player: Kinsley Stiner. She pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Stiner posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in September of 2024. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Gracie Briggs was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August. Peyton Kuhn was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
Pueblo West hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive games.
Pueblo West is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Rampart, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.
Rampart might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Pueblo West when the teams last played back in September. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
