The Piedmont Hills Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the Leland Chargers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Piedmont Hills will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Piedmont Hills narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Ann Sobrato 8-7. That's two games straight that the Pirates have won by just one run.

The team relied heavily on Alex Tran, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Piedmont Hills' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Josh Gomez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.
Piedmont Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .542. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Leland, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They skirted past Branham 6-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Caden Canter was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Brown, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
Piedmont Hills pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Leland, their record now sits at 7-14.
Piedmont Hills' speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's match. The Pirates have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Leland, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Piedmont Hills continue to outrun the ball?
Piedmont Hills might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Leland in their previous meeting back in February. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
