The Rio Hondo Prep Kares can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. They blew past Mayfield 64-24 on the road. While fans of Rio Hondo Prep might be used to big wins, the 40-point margin marked the team's biggest win yet this season.
Leading Rio Hondo Prep to victory were Emma Carson and Tara Riley. Carson dropped a triple-double on 18 points, 15 rebounds, and ten assists, while Riley almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Riley has scored at least a third of Rio Hondo Prep's points. Madelyn Van Cleve was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Rio Hondo Prep is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Mayfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-12.
