The Master's Academy Lions put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 46-39 victory over Carolina Day. Given The Master's Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Carolina Day is ranked 340th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Faith Yelton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of The Master's Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Hannah Yelton, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Carolina Day had strong showings from Lily Everette, who scored 12 points along with 7 rebounds, and Taylor Williams, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Everette scored a full 30.8% of Carolina Day's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Carolina Day struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as The Master's Academy racked up 11.
The Master's Academy has yet to lose a contest on the road this season, leaving them with a 5-0 record. As for Carolina Day, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
The Master's Academy will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Pinnacle Classical Academy at 5:00 p.m. on December 4th. As for Carolina Day, they will be playing at home against Mount Pisgah Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
