The Vista Murrieta Broncos will head out on the road to square off against the Chaparral Pumas at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Vista Murrieta's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
Last Tuesday, Vista Murrieta didn't have too much trouble with the Rams on the road as they won 59-40.
Vista Murrieta got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kohen Marshall out in front who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Marshall is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Nyah Brown was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Chaparral struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (the Nighthawks had 20 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Chaparral fell to the Nighthawks 48-42. Chaparral has not had much luck with the Nighthawks recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Chaparral saw an underclassman step up: Zetta Faasua dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Angela Dela Cruz, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Vista Murrieta is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-16 record this season. As for Chaparral, they now have a losing record at 11-12.
Vista Murrieta strolled past the Pumas in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 60-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vista Murrieta since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
