Leadership is 1-9 against KIPP King since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Leadership will be playing in front of their home fans against the KIPP King Lions at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Leadership came tearing into Friday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 40-20 margin over Latitude. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Leadership has posted yet this season.
Leadership's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hannah Tagaga, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Tagaga pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Hazel Goundar, who scored eight points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, KIPP King humbled Oakland Charter with a 54-9 victory. The win was just what KIPP King needed coming off of a 76-39 defeat in their prior match.
KIPP King got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jasmine Bertucci out in front who scored 19 points along with eight steals. Nikki Li was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five steals.
Leadership's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. As for KIPP King, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
