The Woodside Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Menlo School Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Woodside didn't have quite enough to beat El Camino and fell 4-3.
Joseph Hohl was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cruz Torres was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. He has become a key player for Woodside: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 7-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Amoroso, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.
Meanwhile, Menlo School beat Half Moon Bay 8-3 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won five in a row.
Jackson Flanagan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on nine hits.
At the plate, Kc Chavinson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Zach Roeder was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Menlo School was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Menlo School pushed their record up to 14-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Woodside, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.
Woodside took their victory against Menlo School in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
