It was a good run, but the Los Osos Grizzlies unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 62-41 defeat at the hands of Etiwanda. While losing is never fun, Los Osos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while Etiwanda is ranked third).
Despite the defeat, Los Osos saw an underclassman step up: Jackie Polk scored 16 points along with two steals and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Polk posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Freitas, who scored six points.
Los Osos' defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-6. As for Etiwanda, their win was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Los Osos will face off against Chino Hills at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Etiwanda's road trip will continue as they head out to face St. Lucy's at 4:45 p.m. on January 18th. St. Lucy's comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
