The Panther Valley Panthers are on the road again on Wednesday and play against the Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. on December 27th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, Panther Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Mahanoy Area, taking the game 56-45. The victory was just what Panther Valley needed coming off of a 70-46 loss in their prior match.
Maddison Maynard continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 31 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. The match was her ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Orsulak, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Schuylkill Haven put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Columbia Montour Vo-Tech 60-6 at home. Considering Schuylkill Haven has won five matches by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Panther Valley's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Schuylkill Haven, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Panther Valley strolled past Schuylkill Haven when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a score of 67-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Panther Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
