Baseball Recap: Muir Extends Winning Streak to Four

Muir waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Hoover Tornados. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Muir got a great performance from Miguel Castillo as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Castillo has posted since back in February.

On the hitting side, Conrad Hunziker was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kahlil Rishwain, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Muir always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Muir pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Hoover, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Hoover will head out to challenge St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Muir will be paying especially close attention to the Tornados' contest: after the Tornados face off against the Warriors, they'll take on Muir again at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
