The St. Stephen's & St. Agnes Saints's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They lost to Episcopal at home by a decisive 51-35 margin. While losing is never fun, St. Stephen's & St. Agnes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while Episcopal is ranked 19th).
Ava Sawi was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with five assists and two steals for Episcopal. Sawi is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Princess Akojenu was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
St. Stephen's & St. Agnes' loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Episcopal, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
St. Stephen's & St. Agnes will be playing at home against Georgetown Day at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Episcopal, they will head out on the road to face off against Saint John Paul the Great Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Saint John Paul the Great Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday.
