Football Recap: Canyon Springs Piles Up the Points Against Citrus Hill

Canyon Springs won the last time they faced Citrus Hill and things went their way on Friday too. The Cougars breezed past the Hawks to the tune of 50-21. Considering the Cougars have won seven games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Jaxon Taylor and Andre Larry. Taylor rushed for 205 yards and four touchdowns on only ten carries while Larry rushed for 208 yards and three scores while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Those 205 rushing yards gave Taylor a new career-high.

Canyon Springs didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Citrus Hill to a completion percentage of just 31.6%. The team can thank Omari Solomon for the heroic effort on defense: he. Canyon Springs has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.61 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.61 in their last three games.

Although Citrus Hill took the loss, they still got scores from Ricky Green, Demerius Norman, and Cody Bowie.

The victory made it two in a row for Canyon Springs and bumps their season record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.0 points over those games. As for Citrus Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.

Coming up, Canyon Springs will welcome Perris at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.38 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Citrus Hill, they will challenge Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
