Lone Pine took an 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Desert, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Golden Eagles had just enough and edged out the Scorpions 8-7.

Lone Pine's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Desert, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

As for Desert, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mammoth at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Huskies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.57 runs per game on average), something the Scorpions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
