Leading Dana Hills to victory were Brooklyn Akason and Kayla Rice. Akason scored 15 points along with three steals, while Rice scored 17 points along with three steals. Akason is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Lola Bellon was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two blocks.
Despite the defeat, Mission Viejo saw an underclassman step up: Sofia Gozzo scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Angelique Wright, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Dana Hills is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Mission Viejo, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
Dana Hills will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Capistrano Valley at 7:00 p.m. Capistrano Valley is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Mission Viejo, they will head out on the road to square off against El Toro at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully El Toro focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Thursday.
