Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carter). Their defense stepped up to hand the Hemet Bulldogs a 7-0 shutout on Saturday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 245th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 846th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Carter's offense was hitting Hemet from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Grace Baeza led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Carter has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four contests. As for Hemet, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Carter didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Granite Hills on the 28th. Hemet has also already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Jurupa Valley on the 28th.
