The Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits will venture away from home to square off against the Millikan Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Long Beach Poly is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
Long Beach Poly let Cabrillo stack six runs on them in the fourth inning on Wednesday but luckily Long Beach Poly prevailed anyway. The Jackrabbits put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 12-6 win. The Jackrabbits might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
Will Trunnelle made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Tate Hammond and Caleb Safotu did most of the damage at the plate: Hammond went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Safotu went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That triple was Hammond's first of the season. Fausto Gaxiola III was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Long Beach Poly was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, Millikan earned a 4-1 victory over Arlington on Monday.
Maison Crommie looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Millikan is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Xavier Kennard, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Adrian Ramirez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Long Beach Poly's record now sits at 11-4. As for Millikan, their record is now 7-5.
Long Beach Poly couldn't quite get it done against Millikan in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 as they fell 6-3. Can the Jackrabbits avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
