After flying high against the Hillsdale Falcons last Thursday, the Waynedale Golden Bears came back down to earth. Waynedale fell just short of the Indians by a score of 48-46. It was the first time this season that Waynedale let down their fans at home.
It was another big night for Izzy Callaway, who scored 19 points for Copley. That makes it five consecutive games in which Callaway has scored at least a third of Copley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kami Ayoup, who scored 11 points.
Waynedale's defeat ended a 17-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-4. As for Copley, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 18-2.
Waynedale will be playing at home against the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Norwayne focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Saturday. As for Copley, they will head out on the road to square off against the Blue Devils at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tallmadge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Indians are ranked 18th).
