The West Shores Wildcats stacked a fifth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Borrego Springs as West Shores made off with a 35-15 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win West Shores has posted since November 30, 2023.
Anastacia Garth continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Joana Cabrera was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 14 rebounds and two steals.
Despite the defeat, Borrego Springs saw an underclassman step up: Michelle Llamas scored six points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Borrego Springs struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as West Shores pulled down 26 offensive rebounds.
West Shores' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.33 points. As for Borrego Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Shores will take on San Pasqual Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. San Pasqual Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Borrego Springs, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Calexico Mission at 5:30 p.m. on January 25th. Calexico Mission is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
