The Scott Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Montgomery County Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Scott hadn't beaten Mason County on the road since April 28, 2017 but that history sure didn't bother them on Monday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Royals. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Royals recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Jay Race was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since May 2nd. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Andy Reed was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Scott is 3-1 when Reed posts two or more stolen bases, but 14-18 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Trey Cook, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Scott kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mason County only managed four.
Meanwhile, Montgomery County made easy work of Nicholas County on Monday and carried off a 7-1 win.
Taj Jones looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carter Poe, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Abe Mullins was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Scott's record now sits at 17-19. As for Montgomery County, their record is now 31-7.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Scott hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Montgomery County struggles in that department as they've averaged .364. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Scott suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Montgomery County when the teams last played back in April. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
