It was a good run, but the Vaughn White Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 63-40 walloping at the hands of Northridge Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Vaughn has suffered since December 28, 2023.
Several White Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mariah Eulloqui, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrea Cervantes, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Vaughn were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northridge Academy only posted five assists.
Northridge Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Janelle Estrella led the charge by scoring 16 points along with two steals. Divya Kishore was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
Vaughn's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Northridge Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Vaughn the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Sherman Oaks CES at 3:30 p.m. on January 22nd. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Neriah Adjei and Cervantes. As for Northridge Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Fulton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Fulton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last ten games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
