The Newbury Park Panthers were the 55-23 winner over the Oaks Christian Lions when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Newbury Park fell just short of the Lions by a score of 43-41. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Newbury Park has scored all season.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kimiko Carmer, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine steals. Carmer is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kierabella Coletta-Todd, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds.
Oaks Christian was led to victory by Sophia Wambaa and Presley Kushner. Wambaa scored two points along with ten rebounds and six steals, while Kushner scored 21 points along with five rebounds.
Newbury Park's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-4. As for Oaks Christian, their win bumped their record up to 7-15.
Newbury Park will be playing at home against the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Agoura is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for Oaks Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against the Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
