The Barstow Aztecs won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Silverado at home and fell 77-24. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Barstow in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now lost five in a row.
Silverado got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Elizabeth Udeze out in front who scored 26 points. Udeze is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last 15 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Belinda Rincon, who scored 18 points.
Barstow's defeat was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Silverado, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Barstow will square off against the Cougars at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Bryanna Lynem and Emersyn Ebel. Silverado's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Jackrabbits at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st. Victor Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 962nd, while the Hawks are ranked 223rd).
