Angel Huerta made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has become a key player for University: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 10-14 otherwise. Huerta was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, David Carrillo was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. DJ Pichetrungsi was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Triumph Charter waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Huskies 20-6. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won 13 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Triumph Charter got a massive performance out of Gabriel Gonzales, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Gonzales is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Cruz, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Triumph Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .536. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March.
Triumph Charter pushed their record up to 15-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for University, their win bumped their record up to 13-15.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. University has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Triumph Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
