It was a good run, but the Sylmar Spartans unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 62-48 bruising from Kennedy. Sylmar lost against Kennedy in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 48-34 score last time.
Kennedy can attribute much of their success to Leilani Richards, who scored 24 points. That's the first time this season that Richards scored 15 or more points. Gabriella Valles was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Sylmar's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-1. As for Kennedy, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2.
Sylmar will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Santee at 4:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Santee's defense has only allowed 25.2 points per game this season, so Sylmar's offense will have their work cut out for Sylmar. Kennedy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Highland at 7:00 p.m. on December 27th.
