On Wednesday, San Marcos strolled past Montgomery with points to spare, taking the game 64-50. With that win, San Marcos brought their scoring average up to 52 points per game.
San Marcos was led to victory by Kyra Quinn and Kaiah Bacho. Quinn dropped a double-double on 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Bacho scored 31 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Bacho has scored at least 25% of San Marcos' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Wiedemann, who scored 11 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
Several Aztecs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Whitehead, who scored 25 points. Whitehead scored a full 50% of Montgomery's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Paula Zumstein, who scored 17 points.
The win got San Marcos back to even at 1-1. As for Montgomery, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.
San Marcos is on the road again on Friday and play against Helix at 10:30 a.m. on November 24th. As for Montgomery, they will square off against Fallbrook at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Fallbrook is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
