South Central is 0-8 against Providence since April of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Rebels will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While South Central's victory against Rock Creek Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rebels won by a run and slipped past the Lions 4-3. The win continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won three in a row.
Clinton Fouts made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because South Central is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-12 otherwise. Fouts was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Miles Lassiter was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Heath Ferree, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, while Providence put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Southwestern. The Pioneers were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Rebels. Considering the Pioneers have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Providence gave Noah Mott the start and clearly made the right call: he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Mott has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. Mason Wint came in to relieve Mott and was airtight, giving up no runs, hits or walks in his an inning pitched.
On the hitting side, Providence got a massive performance out of Gavin Jackson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Mauk, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Providence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in three consecutive contests.
South Central's victory bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Providence, their win bumped their record up to 17-4.
