Softball Recap: Northwest's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Northwest entered their tilt with Brighton on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 15-3 win. For the Mounties, this counts as revenge for the 9-5 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Lucy Bivens (2025) was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and one double. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Northwest got a massive performance out of Ava Golightly (2025), who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Golightly (2025) is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Addi Moore (2025), who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Northwest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .452 or higher in three consecutive games.

Northwest's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Brighton, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-21-1.

Northwest didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 6-1 loss against Coldwater on the 17th. As for Brighton, they have also already played their next contest, a 15-0 win against Wayne Memorial on the 19th.
