Basketball Recap: Modoc Skates Past Hayfork with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Modoc). They blew past the Hayfork Timberjacks, posting a 64-19 win. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Braves with their most commanding win of the season.

Modoc's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mackenzie Diven, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 12 points and three steals. Diven has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Caelli DePaul was another key player, putting up eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals.

Modoc was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hayfork only posted three assists.

Despite the loss, Hayfork saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kaelynn Bayley posted four points and six boards.

Modoc is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points per game. As for Hayfork, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Modoc didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-48 defeat against Willows on the 14th. As for Hayfork, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 47-29 victory against Tulelake on the 14th.
