On Thursday, the Bishop Montgomery Knights faced the La Salle Lancers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bishop Montgomery came out on top against La Salle by a score of 59-52. Bishop Montgomery's victory was all the more impressive since La Salle was averaging only 29.52 points allowed on the season.
La Salle's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Audrey Chen, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Erica Fan, who scored 13 points.
Bishop Montgomery's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for La Salle, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-2.
Coincidentally, Bishop Montgomery and La Salle will both be playing St. Mary's Academy the next time they take the court. La Salle will head out to face St. Mary's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Bishop Montgomery will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
