After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tattnall Square Academy, Valwood was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 16-13 victory over the Southland Academy Raiders. The Valiants' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Valwood let Dustin Gibbs and Triston White run wild. Gibbs went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one double, while White scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Valwood is undefeated when White posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Maddox Coile, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his six plate appearances.

Valwood's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Southland Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Coming up, Valwood will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Taylor County at 5:30 p.m. As for Southland Academy, they will take on John Milledge Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
