On Tuesday, Piedmont came up short against East Mecklenburg and fell 64-52.
When it comes to explaining why Piedmont lost, one person who can't be blamed is Emily Polk. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 22 points and 20 rebounds. Polk is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ada Allen, who scored 11 points along with 5 assists and 5 steals.
East Mecklenburg was led to victory by Jade Marshall and Mackenna Weisner. Marshall scored 16 points, while Weisner scored 18 points along with 3 steals. Presense Downer was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
Piedmont's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for East Mecklenburg, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piedmont will take on Union Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Union Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday. As for East Mecklenburg, they will head out on the road to face off against Rocky River at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
