Baseball Recap: Mount Desert Island Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Mount Desert Island barely beat Old Town the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Trojans put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 15-0 win on Wednesday. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by ten runs or more this season.

Preston Tripp and Colin Sullivan were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Tripp tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sullivan didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Tripp is becoming a predictor of Mount Desert Island's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). At the plate, Tripp went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Sullivan got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Sullivan has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Roos, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Ben Ingram was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Mount Desert Island was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory (which was Mount Desert Island's third in a row) raised their record to 7-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Old Town, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount Desert Island will challenge Bucksport at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Old Town, they will face off against John Bapst Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
