Baseball Recap: Ramona Drops Highest Score of Season Against Castle Park

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ramona). They put the hurt on the Castle Park Trojans with a sharp 21-1 win on Friday. With that victory, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Jacob Parker made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Parker was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

In other pitching news, Alex Wilson looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Derek Taylor was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Jarrett, who went 2-for-6 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Ramona kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win (which was Ramona's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Castle Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Coming up, Ramona will square off against Valley Center at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 3.8, the Jaguars 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Castle Park, they will face off against Kearny at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans are facing the Komets at the right time seeing as the Komets are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
