If the South Spartans were riding high off their 35-15 takedown of the Highland Scots last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. South was outmatched by the Vikings on the road and fell 70-20. South has struggled against the Vikings recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mikayla Villalobos, who scored 24 points along with seven assists and five steals. Villalobos is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleigh Adams, who scored 20 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
South's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-15. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.5 points per game. As for West, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South will square off against the Blades at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for West, they will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Golden Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 907th, while the Vikings are ranked 396th).
